Watching Outer Banks is like you've hit a button that fast forwards you to a Sunny summer day. The show drops you right on a North Carolina Island and you see golden light with salt in the air to remind you who has money and who doesn’t. The visuals is what you would expect from a show set in a beautiful area. It looks really nice in a high definition format to stream on Pikashow. The camera doesn’t miss a beat by introducing the group of friends who go on this adventure with Chase Stokes' John B leading the pack. It creates this interesting atmosphere that brings you immediately to this way of life with the group struggling with the privileged. It shows a great first few episodes that hook you In because of the great Conflict that is clearly shown and the classical adventure in youth with a great propensity. It really feels like a group of real life friends just waiting for something to happen. Scroll through looking for escapism and a fun lighthearted show? Outer Banks has it all. It shows great first episodes with great characters that are introduced in an interesting way to create a quick and interesting storyline.

Beyond the Initial Surf: Plot, Pacing, and Performance

Does Outer Banks maintain its racket? To put it plainly, for 15 episodes Outer Banks has done a marvelous job of capturing its audience. The central mystery of the search for the Lost Treasure of the Royal Merchant becomes the series' linchpin of plot and drives its story forward without losing steam. It has been said many times and many ways that the journey is (and was) as important as the destination, and this series is no exception. The journey is filled with dangers, double-crosses with ample amounts of teenage drama. The series strikes the perfect balance between action, adventure, mystery, and romance while maintaining the teenage drama and friend troubles that this show's audience expects. This arrangement keeps the series from being lagging. A series that leans too far into a specific genre quickly shifts to gain and maintain audience engagement, which Outer Banks is no exception. The authenticity that the core cast including Madelyn Cline and Madison Bailey bring to their performances is the best part of the series. The series does a good job of building chemistry not only amongst the cast but with the audience as well. Outer Banks also engages its audience with a more mature 'TV MA' series rating that helps elevate it from one of the saccharine teen dramas. The ensemble cast and some believable plots twists, as well as a killer soundtrack, help maintain audience interest.

This show has the 'Goonies' spirit of kids facing These are the young adventurers that go on to solve complex and grown-up problems. There really is a nostalgia element to Stranger Things, and I appreciate the show for that.

Although a bit of the Goonies nostalgia has worn off for me, I recognize that the series does still grasp a good sense of that spirit.

The Final Wave: Does It Beat Live TV?

After everything we've been through -- moments of intense fear, despair, and joy -- does Outer Banks beat what TV is showing live? It does. For those who are tired of boring sitcoms and exhausting news cycles, Outer Banks offers a delightful escape. It’s a television show that is entertaining enough to watch but mindless enough that you do not actually have to think. The show draws you in with the adventure, and leads you to care for the characters through the emotional stakes and fantasy. The show is exciting enough to make you want to watch the next episode, but not so much that you feel the need to binge watch it. The show is set in a summer location, like all of us truly wish we were, making it great for the dead of winter. The show doesn’t get too technical or complicated with its storyline, making it more simple than complex, which a lot of other shows lack. As Outer Banks doesn't give us much to think about, all it offers is a minor escape, making it excellent to watch with HD streams on Pikashow. While the show may not reinvent the wheel in the television world, its production value is fun and entertaining, and way better than the random shows you'll find when you channel surf. Outer Banks is a keeper -- with a great cast and an enthusiastic tale, Outer Banks is clearly better than the random shows you'll find on TV.
